Young quick returns for second WBBL season

The Melbourne Renegades have re-signed fast bowler Sara Kennedy as a replacement player for the upcoming WBBL season.

Kennedy, who impressed in her debut campaign with the Renegades last year, steps back into the squad ready to play a key role in the team’s bowling unit in the absence of Tayla Vlaeminck.

Kennedy made a significant impact in WBBL|09, claiming four wickets from her 11 games including an impressive 2/20 against the Sydney Sixers in Perth in just her third game, demonstrating an outstanding temperament for her years.

Her ability to swing the ball and maintain accuracy under pressure. Her performances quickly earned her a reputation as one of the most promising fast bowlers in the competition.

“I’m really excited to be back with the Renegades this season,” Kennedy said.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to continue developing my game and contribute to the team’s success. Last year was a great experience, and I feel even more prepared to step up again.”

Kennedy’s return bolsters a Renegades pace attack that includes tala great balance of experience and youth in Sarah Coyte, Georgia Prestwidge, Milly Illingworth and the recently announced International recruit Tara Norris.

Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, is confident Kennedy will continue her upward trajectory this season.

“Sara made a real impact last year, and we’re excited to see her continue to grow as part of our squad,” Rosengarten said.

“It’s unbelievable to think she’s only 17 so she’s still got a lot of development to come and we’re excited to offer her that opportunity in red.”
