The Melbourne Renegades have signed English spinner Linsey Smith as an International replacement player for WBBL|10.
Renegades lock in Linsey Smith ahead of season opener
Smith, a proven performer on the international and domestic cricket stages, brings a wealth of experience to the Renegades’ squad, particularly the bowling attack with her left-arm orthodox and skills in powerplay overs.
The 29-year-old has made significant contributions across her 22-game WBBL career, having previously represented both the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars.
Most recently she was called up to England's T20 squad for the recent World Cup in the UAE.
Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, welcomed Smith to the squad.
“Linsey is a world-class spinner who knows what it takes to perform in this competition. She’s been successful in the WBBL before, and we’re excited to see what she can bring to the team. Her ability to control the middle overs and take key wickets will be important for us this season,” Rosengarten said.
Smith expressed her excitement about joining the Renegades and returning to the WBBL.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Melbourne Renegades and getting back into the WBBL. It’s one of the best competitions in the world, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success this season,” Smith said.
Linsey Smith has joined the squad ahead of weekend's WBBL|10 opener in Adelaide.
