Renegades Recruit returns in 2024

Renegades Recruit Celeb Edition, presented by Liberty, will premiere on 7Plus and Renegades socials from Tuesday, October 8.

This year's series, a fun twist on our traditional format, will see five local celebrities step out of their world and into ours for a crack at the Renegades Recruit crown.

The series will run for four episodes including a finale, with each episode challenging the celebs with a range of cricket-based skills and drills from their batting power to their fielding finesse.

All the while fans will have a front-row seat to the action plus have a big say in who is crowned our next Renegades Recruit.

Meet the Celebrities

The competition will feature a diverse mix of talent from across Melbourne’s sports entertainment network. From household names on TV to popular digital creators, these competitors will face off in a series of challenges that blend cricketing fundamentals with that renowned Renegades flair:

• Alister Nicholson - Blessed with one of the most familiar and trusted voices on TV and radio during the Big Bash, Alister is stepping out of the commentary box to prove he’s got the skills to match his knowledge in Renegades Recruit! Will his sharp calls translate into sharp plays on the field?
• Bharat Sundaresan - Renowned for his insightful cricket analysis and vibrant storytelling — and the fashion sense to match! — how will Bharat handle the pressure of being on the other side of fence? 
• Checkers - One third of the highly popular Australian content creators Marmalade, Checkers comes from questionable cricketing pedigree having kitted up for Richmond's Division 9 side most recently but fancies himself with both bat and ball.
• Sarah Burt - A dynamic sports journalist with a passion for storytelling, Sarah is stepping out from behind the scenes to showcase her own athletic talents. She's ready to show she’s got more than just the scoop—she’s got game!
• Will Taylor - A content king, known for his quick wit and cheeky edits, Tails' cricketing exploits don't travel much farther than his own imagination. Can he turn his viral tidbits into cricketing glory?

It’s anyone’s guess who will rise to the occasion and take home the title!

Fans in control

In a unique twist, Renegades members and fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite contestant throughout the series, allowing viewers to sway the decision and decide who is most deserving of the Renegades Recruit title.

Voting will be open when the series premieres on 7Plus this Tuesday (October 8) and end on a few days out from the finale. 

And viewers who vote for their favourite celebrity in the Renegades Recruit Celeb Edition will go into the running to win a major prize.

The stakes will get higher, with the final episode revealing which celebrity has what it takes to be the Renegades Recruit title!
