Melbourne Renegades young guns Will Sutherland and Jake Fraser-McGurk have earned maiden international call ups for Australia's upcoming ODI series against the West Indies.
National duties beckon for young guns
Both Sutherland and Fraser-McGurk will aim to make their international debuts in the three-match series, beginning on 2 February at the MCG.
Sutherland has been ushered in in place of Tasmania's Nathan Ellis (injured) while Fraser-McGurk, fresh from a breakout BBL|13, comes in for Glenn Maxwell who has been rested after a recent, jam-packed schedule.
It is just reward for Sutherland who leads the Marsh Cup for wickets with 11 scalps from his five games this season at 18.18 and 4.93 economy rate.
For the Victorian skipper and Renegades vice-captain, it continues his impressive rise after representing Australia A in three one-dayers against New Zealand A in Queensland on the eve of the BBL season.
Fraser-McGurk fittingly gets his chance thanks to a brilliant summer for South Australia and Melbourne Renegades.
Fraser-McGurk made headlines in October after smashing the fastest ever List A century (from 29 balls) for the Redbacks at Karen Ralton Oval. He continued that explosiveness at the number three spot for the Renegades, finishing with 257 runs at 32.13 and a strike-rate of 158.64. His efforts saw him finish fifth on the tournament's run tally (after the regular home and away season) and earn Team of the Year honours.
Most recently, Fraser-McGurk kept his impressive form going playing for the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20, scoring a match-winning 54 off 25 balls on debut.
