Renegades name squad for MCG derby

The Melbourne Renegades have made two changes ahead of tomorrow night’s RMIT Melbourne Derby at the MCG.

Opener Joe Clarke has been ruled out with a quad injury suffered in Friday’s win against the Strikers. Clarke pulled up sore running between the wickets while batting.

Clarke retired hurt but was able to return deep in the innings and make an impact in the Renegades’ successful run chase. Scans on Tuesday will provide more clarity around Clarke’s availability for the rest of BBL|13.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman has also been removed from the squad after a change to his No-Objection Certificate (NOC) conditions made him unavailable for the match.

Skipper Nic Maddinson is back in the mix, as is top-order batter and international signing Jordan Cox.

Kane Richardson, who was a late out with injury against the Strikers, trained fully with the squad on Monday and will be considered for selection.

The Renegades head into Tuesday’s RMIT Melbourne Derby full of confidence after breaking through for their first win of BBL|13.

Jake Fraser-McGurk starred with 70 (37) while veteran Shaun Marsh (54 from 33) continued where he left off with his second half ton in as many hit outs.

The Renegades have won four of the last five games against its cross-town rivals, with the last coming at Marvel Stadium on January 14, 2023. The overall record win tally stands in favour of the Stars (15-9).

The game will be Adam Zampa's first against his old side following last season's trade between the two clubs for the leg-spinner and wicket-keeper Sam Harper.

The Final XI will be confirmed at the bat flip.
