“Sakes just said the Perth Scorchers were 0-5 last year and they made the Grand Final,” Harper said.
“It’s black and white, we need to start winning, we need to get on a roll in the New Year and get some momentum going.
“We just got to keep rolling up, keep training well and keep preparing well.”
Harper was a shining light for the Gades last night, hitting an electrifying 57 runs off 35 balls at the top of the order.
“There’s not too many other ways to go about it when you’re chasing 200 odd and that’s sort of my role in the team is to try and get us off to as positive start as we can,” Harper said.
“What I’ve learnt in T20 over the last 4 years here is as a batter, you got to stay consistent in your process.”
Harper acknowledged the serious dominance of Ben McDermott, who last night belted 127 runs and notched up back-to-back centuries.
“He’s (McDermott) in some serious form,” Harper said.
“Sometimes I don’t know what we can do, he was sending everything to the boundary it seemed.
“Unfortunately, we’ve come up against Mitchy Marsh in some serious nick and then Benny McDermott tonight.”
Harper said the Gades will be buoyed by the return of star batsman Shaun Marsh in the New Year.
“He’s (Marsh) one of the best players I’ve ever played with,” Harper said.
“His record in the BBL is incredible, he brings so much calmness.
“If you look at Marsh to come back, Finch, Maddinson, Richardson, Nabi, you can keep naming them, there’s some absolute match-winners and gun players in there so there’s no reason why we can’t do it.”
