Richo optimistic of what’s to come

“Fingers crossed now, on the back of this, we can win a few games and start to get a roll on,” Richardson said.

“All of a sudden it can change so quickly with a couple of wins like Brisbane have shown in their last couple of games.

“Now, it’s going to be can we keep that going and that’s probably the challenge that awaits us.”

Richardson was awarded Player of the Match for his 3-24, including a wicket-maiden in a power surge over.

He was not the only one to perform strongly, crediting the efforts of experienced trio Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and Nic Maddinson.

“Nice to be in the runs for him (Finch), he’s obviously a massive player and to have him and Shaun Marsh together at the top of the order gives us a different look and I think everyone walks a bit taller with those guys playing well,” Richardson said.

“He’s (Maddinson) quite smart, he’s got a good cricket brain, so really handy to have that – four overs from your captain who bats at four.”

English fast bowler Reece Topley also contributed with three wickets of his own in his last game for the Renegades.

“He’s obviously disappointed to leave, he’s loved his time and we’ve loved having him,” Richardson said.

“He’s been really good, especially the last few weeks.”

The Renegades move on to face the Brisbane Heat in Geelong on Thursday.

“We didn’t play there at all last year, and we’ve got really good support down there and it’s a great place to go visit and play,” Richardson said.

“It’s an amazing ground.

“Hopefully this is the start to something more.”
