It’s been a busy off-season for the team with some familiar faces returning alongside some new faces for the Gades WBBL03 campaign.
With the playing list just about finalised, here is a closer look at the players who will be pulling on the red and black this season.
Chamari Atapattu – Sri Lankan International

There are many reasons the WBBL Renegades have been chasing Chamari Atapattu. The talented Sri Lankan’s aggressive batting style has seen her become one of the highest scoring batters in international cricket. Atapattu holds several records including being the only woman to hit a WODI Century for Sri Lanka (three times), the record for having scored most runs with a strike rate of over 100, and holds the highest score for a Sri Lankan in a WODI where she made a spectacular 178 not out.
Atapattu’s ability to score big totals at a rapid pace will only strengthen the team’s batting stocks and hopefully help the WBBL Renegades put some impressive totals on the board.
Sophie Molineux – National Performance Squad

Returning for her third season with the WBBL Renegades, Sophie Molineux has enjoyed one of the most consistent and full pre-seasons to date. Now training three to four times a week, the talented all-rounder has been busy this off season, featuring in both the Cricket Australia Women’s XI and the Governor General’s XI during November.
The 19-year-old has displayed great signs with both the bat and ball while playing for Vic Spirit taking 4/27 against Tasmania and making 50 and 62 against the ACT Women and NSW Women respectively.
Head coach Tim Coyle firmly believes Molineux will continue to go from strength-to-strength, and be a dominant figure for the Renegades during WBBL03.
Rhiann O’Donnell –

One of the fresh faces to join the Renegades this season, Rhiann O’Donnell has earned her spot in the team after working hard on her game and improving in many key areas.
The former Mildura West all-rounder, made the move to the city joining Plenty Valley in the Premier Cricket competition. O’Donnell’s consistency was rewarded when she was offered a Vic Spirit contract in 2017.
Coaches believe the 19-year old will add an additional layer of depth to the Renegades, with her hard working attitude a huge benefit on the field.
Georgia Wareham –

Right Arm Leg Spin
Wareham has come a long way since joining the Renegades as the youngest player in the competition for WBBL01.
It’s been a busy 2017 for the 18-year old, having balanced training alongside her Year 12 studies. However, the youngster has continued her development playing with the Vic Spirit as well as the Governor General’s XI against England.
A move to Melbourne in the last fortnight means Wareham will be able to get more consistency with her training and have a big impact with the Renegades this summer.

Maitlan Brown – National Performance Squad,
Right Hand Bat
Right Arm Fast Medium
Brown joined the Renegades for WBBL02 on the back of just one practice match playing for country NSW and did not disappoint coaches with consistent performances right throughout the campaign.
The 20-year old moved to Canberra to continue her development with the ACT program, and returns to the Renegades for WBBL03 with the aim to build on her already solid cricket foundation.
Brown is described by coaches as a very exciting player, with great character who is an asset to the group.
