Richardson named BBL Player of the Season

For Richardson, a model of consistency since joining the Renegades for BBL|07, this is the first time he has won the member-voted award.

The 31-year-old again led the attack this season – and on multiple occasions also captained the side in the absence of new skipper Nic Maddinson.

Richardson claimed 19 wickets across his 11 matches, with an average of 16.4 and economy rate of 8.2.

He often took on the responsibility of bowling in the power play, power surge and death overs.

Richardson’s best figures for the season came in game two, against the Adelaide Strikers on the road.

This was a performance of 4-32 from four overs, which saw the right-armer claim his 100th BBL wicket.

Richardson had an impact in the Renegades’ three wins for BBL|11 – claiming 1-24 against the Strikers, 3-24 against the Stars and 2-22 against the Heat.

He now sits in third place on the BBL’s all-rime wickets tally with 117, behind Sean Abbott (125) and AJ Tye (118) and remains committed to the Renegades until the end of BBL|14.
